LUNCHEON MEETING HIGHLIGHTS January 3, 2023:  City Attorney David Chiu
President Christopher Wiseman (Nonprofit Management | Glaucoma Research Foundation) called the first meeting of 2023 to order at 12:15 PM. He welcomed those online and those attending in person inside the Anzu Restaurant at the Hotel Nikko. 
 
Visiting Rotarians and Guests
Today's Visiting Rotarians were Assistant Governor Sylvia Barry from the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise, Rami Branbo via Zoom from a Rotary Club in Sweden, Past District Governor Peter Cheng from the Rotary Club of Hsinchu Silicon Valley - Taiwan, and Karen Schmautz - mother of PDG Eric Schmautz (Banking: Management | Retired) - from the Rotary Club of Indian Rocks Beach in Florida. We also welcomed Charlie Miles and today's speaker - City Attorney David Chiu.

Michael Conley will talk about why art, generally, and music, specifically, are so crucial to our well-being as individuals and to our success as a society. SERVICE PROJECT January 21, 2023: Rotary Meadow Restoration
Come and enjoy nature, fresh air, and fellowship while helping Sutro Stewards seed and restore Rotary Meadow - a garden of native plants our Club planted at the summit of Mount Sutro in 2004. Participation is limited to a maximum of 20 members of our Club. Advanced registration is required. 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON January 24, 2023: Russell Low and Spirit of the Early Chinese American Pioneers: One Family's Story 
Finding a previously unknown 100-year-old Hong family photograph among the belongings of his great uncle Kim, Russell Low embarked upon a decades-long search to find the stories behind the 1903 photograph. In his new historical novel, Three Coins, Low weaves family stories and real-life characters with the historical and political events of 19th-century America. 
 
 
CLUB SOCIAL January 28, 2023: Ping Pong Social
Join your fellow Rotarians for our first 2023 social to determine who will win bragging rights as our Ping Pong Champions! We will have tables reserved from 2 to 4 PM. Admission includes a light lunch and soft drinks. All Rotarians, their families and guests, and prospective members are welcome. ROTARY LUNCHEON January 31, 2023: Andrew Fraknoi and the James Webb Space Telescope
Andrew Fraknoi, an astronomer and physicist with the Fromm Institute at USF and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of San Francisco State University, will be speaking on the James Webb Space Telescope and sharing the latest images that have been beamed back from the Webb. He'll also talk on the two upcoming solar eclipses. This presentation will be in everyday language; no science background is required.
