DESCRIPTION:Dr. Alison Simon\, AICP\, Senior Director of Amtrak responsibl
 e for implementing the vision of rail transport for California\, will shar
 e and connect the dots between transportation and sustainability. Dr. Simo
 n has worked in the transportation industry for over 30 years\, the last 1
 0 of which have been with Amtrak. She worked first in the Northeast Corrid
 or and eventually transferred and then retired from running trains for the
  State of California. She also served as a planning advisor to Amtrak seni
 or management over the years\, culminating in an industry award for implem
 enting sustainability programs. Dr. Simon holds a master's and a Ph.D. in 
 Urban Planning. When all of these credentials collide\, she reveals her bi
 g picture thinking that emerges on how Amtrak could and should be contribu
 ting to the climate change solution. This is a regular membership meeting 
 of the Rotary Club of San Francisco\, open to all Rotarians\, visiting Rot
