DESCRIPTION:Kim Turner\, J.D.\, will speak about Title IX and its future\, 
 especially in the Bay Area. She is Co-CEO of Bay Area Women’s Sports Ini
 tiative (BAWSI). She is also an independent consultant regarding Title IX 
 and gender equity in youth sports. Kim has over a decade of experience as 
 a nonprofit Title IX attorney\, including with Legal Aid at Work’s Fair 
 Play for Girls in Sports project. She served as Director of the Gender Equ
 ity (Women and Girls) Initiative at Positive Coaching Alliance advancing s
 ports-based gender equity for youth\, coaches\, schools\, youth sports sta
 keholders\, and community programs. Kim is an expert on sport-based gender
  equity and Title IX advocacy for equity-spurring legislation having serve
 d as a member of the review panel for the Women’s Sports Foundation repo
 rt: “50 Years of Title IX: We’re Not Done Yet.”  Since graduating f
 rom law school\, Kim has practiced a mixture of Title IX\, employment\, an
 d housing law with an emphasis on equity and anti-discrimination systems-l
 evel change. She received her B.A. from Brown University\, double concentr
 ating in Public Policy and Sociology where she also played for the varsity
  women’s volleyball team. Before law school\, Kim worked in Washington D
 .C. in the U.S. Senate and for the nonprofit National League of Cities.  
 Kim has been a regular contributor to news outlets and offers trainings an
 d talks to a wide range of audiences. Kim is a youth sports coach\, parent
  to two active children\, and enjoys pick-up sports\, plus all things outd
 oors.  This is a regular membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Fra
 ncisco\, open to all Rotarians\, visiting Rotarians\, prospective members\
