DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the Korean Independence Movement Day on March
  1st\, we will watch Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet\, a Korean film about 
 Yun Dongju\, one of the most beloved Korean poets. Through the life story 
 of this brilliant poet\, the movie shows how many Korean scholars were imp
 risoned and abused by the Japanese during the Japanese colonization of Kor
 ea. Through the poet's powerful words\, the audience will see and feel the
  human spirit yearning for creativity\, passion\, and freedom. After the s
 creening\, Dr. Stellie Kim\, a member of our Club who grew up in Korea\, w
 ill lead a discussion on Korean literature and history\, reflecting on the
  impact of Yun Dongju’s work. We will also enjoy a selection of traditio
 nal Korean dishes\, immersing ourselves further into Korean culture. This 
 110-minute film is not rated\, but not recommended for young children due 
 to its mature themes of oppression\, political tension\, and a tragic stor
 yline based on the life of a real poet during a difficult historical perio
 d in Korea. The film will be shown in Korean with English subtitles. This 
 event is sponsored by the Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Committees of
