Our guest speaker for this event is Eric Wick who will talk on the Veteran suicide epidemic. A life-long student of military history and eco nomics\, Eric Wick served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1 991. He has worked as a cabinetmaker\, optician\, ophthalmic laboratory te chnician\, technical writer\, and teacher. Currently\, he works at Swords to Plowshares\, first as Peer Specialist in the Safe Haven Veterans Emerge ncy Transitional Housing Program and for the past two years as Suicide Pre vention Trainer for the SSG Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Pro gram\, giving suicide awareness and prevention presentations and training to the public and to service organization staff\, as well as presentations and lectures to clinicians on veteran psychology and veteran-centric leth al means reduction. When not giving presentations\, he works with Veterans struggling with suicidal ideation and is a Veterans' mental health advoca te. He also owns a copywriting business\, the proceeds from which he uses to fund his off-hours work in Veteran and first responder suicide preventi on. This is a regular membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francis co\, open to all Rotarians\, visiting Rotarians\, prospective members\, an d guests.
