Meet our panel ists: Kimberly Leung manages the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Ag ency’s Livable Streets subdivision\, which oversees the city’s program s for bicycle and pedestrian capital improvements\, traffic calming\, bike share\, and school crossing guards. She is a California-licensed Professio nal Engineer and Traffic Engineer with over a decade of experience working for the SFMTA. She earned her MS in Transportation Engineering and her BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley. Kimberly is an a ctive leader of the transportation community and served as the 2023 Instit ute of Transportation Engineers Western District President. Fun fact about Kimberly is that she did not learn how to ride a bike until her mid-20s! Mike Sallaberry grew up in San Francisco and though he enjoyed riding bike s with his friends from an early age\, he never imagined that it would lea d to a career that involves making streets safer for cycling and walking! He’s been working as a transportation engineer for over 25 years now – mostly for the city of San Francisco – and loves the work. And he still loves to ride his bike – to explore\, to be active\, and to get around town. And while his love of San Francisco can be tested at times\, explori ng and experiencing the city by foot and on bike have only helped him love the City more. The moderator for this panel is Rachel Donovan. She is a licensed professional engineer with a long career in transportation planni ng\, operations\, project delivery\, and bridge inspection with the State of California. Rachel was named Alameda County Bicycle Commuter of the Ye ar in 2014 and was president of the Institute of Transportation Engineers \, SF Bay Area Section\, and the Mineta Transportation Institute Alumni As sociation.
