DESCRIPTION:Lies and Miracles tells the story of George Landau and his fami
ly who went from a peaceful life in Lwow\, Poland (which is present day Lv
iv in the Ukraine after many border changes) to unimaginable struggles and
suffering in a Siberian concentration camp from 1939-1943 during World Wa
r II. This 40-minute documentary is not rated. It is adapted from a book w
ritten by Mark Landau (George's father) and has been shown at the Tiburon
Film Festival. We are presenting this program in recognition of Holocaust
Remembrance Day on January 27\, 2025. George Landau survived the Holocaust
and made it to America. 47 years ago\, he became a Charter Member of the
Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere. He has been very active in his community
as a volunteer and later\, served as a Trustee for the Reed School Distri
ct. George helped to start the Reed School Foundation to raise $2 million
per year to reduce class sizes\, upgrade facilities\, and fund programs in
Art\, Music\, and Foreign Languages. In addition to the film\, those who
attend will meet and hear from George Landau. According to 92-year-old Geo
rge\, “People need to wake up and appreciate the freedoms that we have
 – even if you think they’re eroding.” This film is not rated. While
it does not contain graphic or sensitive images\, the story's themes relat
