DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon celebrating Turkish culture\, history\
 , and food. The name of this country is in the process of being changed to
  Türkiye. We’ll start by looking through the lens of the movie My Grand
 father's People. This heartfelt film explores family\, acceptance\, and th
 e journey of a 10-year-old boy in a small Turkish town. It's a story that 
 speaks to everyone about embracing differences\, understanding our roots\,
  and celebrating the richness of Turkish life by exploring the diversity w
 ithin Turkish heritage. The movie is based on the family history of the di
 rector\, Çagan Irmak\, one of the most powerful directors of Turkish cine
 ma. His grandfather was one of millions of people forced to migrate betwee
 n Greece and Turkey at the end of the First World War because of their rel
 igious identities.  After the film\, we’ll discuss our reactions to it 
 over a sumptuous Turkish dinner catered by Troya Mediterranean Kitchen\, a
 n excellent Turkish restaurant in San Francisco. The buffet-style dinner w
 ill feature a variety of traditional Turkish foods\, including options app
 ropriate for vegetarians\, vegans\, and those who avoid gluten. The dinner
  will be accompanied by traditional Turkish alcoholic and non-alcoholic be
 verages – all included with your registration. My Grandfather’s People
  is in Turkish with English subtitles. Rated “13+”\, it is two hours l
 ong. This event is sponsored by the Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Com
