DESCRIPTION:At a time when higher educational institutions are being asked
to respond to the public’s question about the value of a college degree\
, USF President Salvador D. Aceves will reflect on the enduring value of a
values-based\, Jesuit Catholic education in today’s complex and rapidly
changing world. He will explore how the Catholic intellectual tradition c
alls educators to educate the whole person — mind\, heart\, and spirit
— while grounding learning in a deep commitment to human dignity\, ethic
al responsibility\, and the common good. Salvador D. Aceves\, Ed.D.\, is t
he 29th President of the University of San Francisco (USF). He is the univ
ersity's first lay president and first Latino president. Born and raised i
n San Francisco\, Dr. Aceves is the son of immigrants and a proud first-ge
neration college graduate. He graduated from USF where he earned his Bache
lor of Science in Accounting from the School of Management in 1983 and his
doctoral degree in Education in 1995. He also holds a master's degree in
Taxation from Golden Gate University. Dr. Aceves previously served as pres
ident of Regis University and earlier held several roles\, including chief
planning and budget officer\, associate professor\, and tax associate. Th
is is a regular membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francisco\, o
pen to all Rotarians\, visiting Rotarians\, prospective members\, and gues

iday at noon\, prior to our Tuesday meeting\, whether those registered att

wish to participate via Zoom\, there is a $15 fee to attend. Accessibility
