DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of San Francisco’s DEI Committee is pleased t
 o announce the launch of our DEI Film Festival with the screening of Amist
 ad at 4:30 PM on Sunday\, July 16\, 2023 in the Community Room at Rotary T
 errace\, 312 Miller Avenue\, South San Francisco\, CA 94080. This film is 
 based on true events starting in 1839\, when a group of Africans overwhelm
 ed the crew of the Amistad\, a ship that was bringing them to slavery in t
 he New World. The film focuses on the subsequent trial that went all the w
 ay to the US Supreme Court: Were they guilty of murder? Were they slaves o
 r were they free citizens of a foreign country? Directed by Steven Spielbe
 rg\, Amistad features Djimon Hounsou\, Matthew McConaughey\, Anthony Hopki
 ns (nominated for an Oscar as Best Actor in a Supporting Role)\, and Morga
 n Freeman. It was released in 1997 with an R rating (some scenes of strong
  brutal violence and some related nudity). All Club members\, prospective 
 members\, their friends\, and family are invited to attend. Tickets are $1
 0 per person and include the movie and refreshments. BUY TICKETS HERE Park
 ing: There is a parking garage located across from Rotary Terrace. Additio
 nally\, street parking is available free of charge on Sundays. However\, p
 lease refrain from parking in the Rotary Terrace garage if the door is ope
