DESCRIPTION:In a city known for its lively restaurant scene\, San Francisco
  Chronicle lead restaurant critic MacKenzie Chung Fegan will discuss the c
 urrent and future states of food in San Francisco. MacKenzie grew up in Sa
 n Francisco restaurants. Her grandparents opened and ran Henry's Hunan Res
 taurant formerly on Kearny Street and now on Natoma Street. MacKenzie said
  that restaurant reviews catapulted the humble operation into the stratosp
 here as the New York Times and Gourmet magazine sang its praises. In addit
 ion\, restaurant reviews made an impression on her life. "It's not a stret
 ch to say that my life has been uniquely shaped by restaurant criticism\,"
  said MacKenzie. She is a writer\, editor\, host\, and director and especi
 ally focuses on representing the underrepresented whenever she can. Prior 
 to joining the San Francisco Chronicle\, she was a senior editor at Bon Ap
 pétit. Her writing has appeared in the Best American Food Writing 2021\, 
 and her videos have won Webby Awards and screened at the Centre Pompidou. 
 MacKenzie has also worked at the Ford Foundation\, Human Rights Watch\, an
 d Cinereach and hosted the BRIC podcast Glitter & Doom. This is a regular 
 membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francisco\, open to all Rotar
