DESCRIPTION:Blue Bear School of Music is the original school of rock and ro
ll. It was founded as “Blue Bear Waltzes School of Genuine Music” in t
he summer of 1971. For over 50 years\, Blue Bear has provided music educat
ion to the community and has an active outreach program to underserved nei
ghborhoods that provides free music education to kids at over 20 sites in
San Francisco. All ages\, from tykes to seniors\, participate in classes\,
individual instruction\, and band workshops. In 1978 operations moved fro
m the original storefront on Ocean Avenue to Fort Mason Center\, where Blu
e Bear has thrived and evolved to its current state of more than 850 music
-loving students per quarter. Blue Bear’s current Board of Trustees
and Staff includes Peter Logan who is an active member in our Rotary Club
! Day-to-day operations are under the direction of Dennis Criteser\, a f
ormer student who has been associated with the school since 1979\, and co-
founder Dr. Steven Savage. Dr. Savage is the Executive Director and Presid
ent of the Board of Trustees at Blue Bear School of Music. In today’s
program\, Steve Savage will introduce the school\, and then\, we will be t
reated to a performance by talented students and staff. This is a regular
membership meeting of the Rotary Club of San Francisco\, open to all Rotar
ians\, visiting Rotarians\, prospective members\, and guests. Meeting Sche

in-person registration cost for all adults and children is $45 until 11:5

and beyond on April 4\, 2025 and includes any walk-ins on Tuesday\, April
8. The Hotel Nikko holds us to the headcount that we submit on Friday at
noon\, prior to our Tuesday meeting\, whether those registered attend or n
ot. In Rotary spirit\, thanks for helping us to maintain a good relationsh
ip with our host hotel. For attendance via Zoom: For those who wish to
participate via Zoom\, there is a $15 fee to attend. Parking: If you are d
riving to the Hotel Nikko for this meeting\, please leave your car with th
e Hotel Nikko valet. Pick up a validation sticker available at our check-i
