In a heartwarming display of community spirit, our Club members joined fellow Rotarians from District 5150 and thousands of other supporters for the San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
A highlight of the day was our Club’s vibrant presence. Proudly dressed in our bright neon yellow vests, we stood out as a symbol of unity, energy, and commitment to this important cause. Walkers chose between a one-mile or three-mile route, held this year at Bayfront Park, located across from the Chase Center along the water’s edge.
The weather couldn’t have been better — clear blue skies and a warm 72 degrees created the perfect backdrop for an inspiring day. Participants enjoyed engaging with numerous vendors offering valuable Alzheimer’s resources, along with generous refreshments to keep everyone hydrated and energized.
Our team’s dedication truly paid off! We surpassed our original fundraising goal of $5,000 by raising an incredible $13,317 — an outstanding 277% achievement! Special thanks go to Dan Joraanstad for leading our fundraising efforts and to the San Francisco Rotary Foundation for its generous $3,000 donation.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all Club members, families, and friends who walked or donated to support the cause. Walk participants included: President Frank Yoke, Dan Joraanstad, new members Janet Beach and Eric and Odilie Orantes, Mary Liu (lead project coordinator), and Mary’s family — James, Jenny, Jason, Claudia, and doggie Teddy.
We are deeply grateful to our many generous donors, including Anita Stangl, Audra & Aaron Schuman, Bill Gregory, Bob Hermann, Larry R. Booth, Brad Chilcoat, Brett Bryant, Christopher Davies, Darlena Luppino Torres, David Laudon, Donald Morrison, Lisa Stark, Erik Walter, Gary Laws, Hanna & Brett, Jenny K. Campbell, Karen Gettman, Karen Kam, Mark Joraanstad, Mary Bates, Michael Blacksburg, Peter J. Logan, Peter Lagarias, Philip Gara, Rich Walker, Rick Harrell, Robert H. Beadle, Steven Redlin, Sunny Singh, The Shoop-Gardner Family, Thomas Brunner, Thomas Glenn Rotherham, Todd St Vrain, William K. Cleaveland, numerous anonymous donors, and once again, the San Francisco Rotary Foundation.
Your generosity and spirit have made a lasting impact. Every step we took and every dollar raised bring us closer to a world free from Alzheimer’s. Let’s celebrate this tremendous achievement — and continue walking together toward a brighter future!
