President Christopher Wiseman (Nonprofit Management | Glaucoma Research Foundation) called the meeting to order and welcomed those online and those attending in person inside the Anzu Restaurant at the Hotel Nikko. 

 

Today's guests were Maria Filmar, Charlie Miles, and Meagan Mod. Dan Joraanstad (Financial Services: Advising | Retired) introduced Peter de Castro (Financial Services: Advising | RBC). Peter is an active member of our Club who has been living in Paris.

 

President Christopher continued to share 2022 Holiday Party photos that he has received. Thank you to Ozan Yasavur (Engineering: Mechanical | Bioforcetech Corporation) for sharing his photos today with the Club.

 

Andrew Fraknoi, an astronomer and physicist with the Fromm Institute at USF and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of San Francisco State University, will be speaking on the James Webb Space Telescope and sharing the latest images that have been beamed back from the Webb. He'll also talk on the two upcoming solar eclipses. This presentation will be in everyday language; no science background is required.

Join your fellow Rotarians, guests, and prospective members on Super Bowl Sunday for fun and fellowship as we watch the game together and enjoy great food. This is a family-friendly event. Winners of the Club Super Bowl Pool will be celebrated at the end of each quarter.

On Emergency Services Day, the Rotary Club of San Francisco annually honors outstanding representatives of the departments that we depend on for our public safety: the Fire Department, the Department of Emergency Management, the Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, the Coast Guard, and the Recreation and Park Rangers. Join us at this service opportunity to stuff diaper bags and organize diapers and wipes for giveaway to clients of the Homeless Prenatal Program. We will meet at an open-air warehouse to allow social distancing while stuffing the bags and organizing the goods. Participation is limited to 10 people, so sign up early. Facial mask is required.
