Activity: Thanksgiving Lunch with The Arc of San Francisco

Chair of the Day: Tim Hornbecker

In the spirit of giving thanks, Rotarians will not only eat and meet, but feed and greet 300 adults with developmental disabilities at The Arc of San Francisco, 1500 Howard Street (11th and Howard) on Tuesday, November 24th.

We will be providing a Thanksgiving meal to adults with developmental disabilities, like Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Autism. Many live on an average of as little as $830 per month from Social Security! The Arc was started by a group of parents in San Francisco over 50 years ago, concerned about a lack of services for their sons and daughters. Since then, they’ve become a primary resource for people with disabilities, helping them live, learn, work and be part of their communities. The Arc provides opportunities for self-determination, dignity and quality of life to over 600 clients with disabilities.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED: Contact Cecile Chiquette for details.

SCHEDULE:

10:00am -- Help with the final stages of prep work: pork roll slicing, pie cutting, making juice and wrapping plastic ware in napkins.

11:00am -- Begin serving The Arc of San Francisco clients a delicious Thanksgiving lunch!

12:15pm -- Rotary members enjoy lunch.

1:30pm -- Clean-up begins

Parking is available on the street, at Costco, or by making special arrangements.
