Past President Anita Stangl will give an update on the wonderful work of Alliance for Smiles (AfS), bringing free surgeries to children around the world who need repairs for cleft lips and cleft palates.
Our club has consistently supported the work of Alliance for Smiles since it was founded by members of our club in 2004. AfS has significantly changed the lives of over 5500 children in a number of countries with an emphasis on China where it sent its first mission in 2005.
Besides sending surgical teams, AfS helps develop Treatment Centers to provide the type of long term cleft care found in countries with well-developed health care systems. To date five Centers in China have been developed and one in Bangladesh.
