Members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco are invited to celebrate Passover with a traditional evening Seder at the home of a friend of our Club located in the St. Francis Woods neighborhood of San Francisco. The Seder is a meal that starts with the retelling of the story of how the Jews were liberated from slavery in ancient Egypt and a reminder of our obligation to build a better world or all (in other words, Service Above Self). The menu will feature foods traditionally enjoyed by Jewish families at Passover Seders, including gefilte fish, matzo ball soup, braised beef brisket, roast chicken, matzo kugel, vegetables, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, and dessert. While there will be options for those who avoid gluten, we cannot offer a vegetarian or vegan option. Dress is business casual. Our hostess keeps a strictly Kosher home, fully adhering to all of the dietary rules followed by observant, including special rules for the eight-day Passover holiday (from sundown April 22 until sundown on April 30 in 2024). Because space is very limited, this event is open only to Club members. No guests. More information, including the location, will be provided when you register. The cost of this event is $45 per person. Click on the button to register and pay. The deadline to register is April 21, 2024. |

The Asian Art Museum is unveiling their latest exhibit: Phoenix Kingdoms: the Last Splendor of China’s Bronze Age which brings to life the distinguished Bronze Age cultures that flourished 3,000 years ago along the Yangzi River, a cradle of Chinese civilization. We are very lucky to tour this exhibit with a familiar face as our docent - Peggy Mathers. Join us to learn more about these incredible cultures and artworks with more than 150 pieces of art on display. Following this one-hour tour, we will have a reception at the Asian Art Museum itself including a light dinner buffet with Asian-inspired dishes, wine, and non-alcoholic options. There are two ways to attend this event. You can either buy tickets for the tour and reception or you can just attend the reception if you are unable to join us earlier or a one-hour walking tour isn't feasible. We'd love to have you join for both if possible. The museum does provide on-demand wheelchairs in the coat check area if helpful. Your tour ticket also gives you access to the general exhibits at the museum, and the museum will be open until 8 PM on this day if you'd like to explore more. There is easy public transportation access through the BART and Muni Civic Center station which is a short walk away. If you are driving, the Civic Center parking garage across the street is open until 10 PM. The tour begins at 5 PM, and the reception begins at 6 PM. Ticket price for museum access, exhibit tour, and dinner reception is $50 per person. Ticket price for the reception only is $35 per person. This event is open to all Rotarians and guests. Attendance for the tour is capped at 20 people and 25 total for the reception. Please register by Friday, April 26 as we need to provide our venue with final headcount numbers in advance. Feel free to reach out to Alisha Marfatia with any questions or concerns. In addition, Alisha will need one volunteer to be her contact on that day for the museum, as she will unfortunately be out of town for this event. Please email her if you'd be able to do this and she will comp your ticket. |

In honor of Pride Month, the Rotary Club of San Francisco proudly welcomes San Francisco’s first ever Drag Laureate — D’Arcy Drollinger! D’Arcy was announced as Drag Laureate by the City of San Francisco in May of 2023; her tenure runs for 18 months. This ambassador-type position, which the City says is the first in the U.S., seeks to bring visibility to the LGBTQ community and works with city agencies to address LGBTQ people’s needs. D’Arcy was selected by City officials due to her record of public service — including Meals on Heels, which she created during COVID to employ out-of-work drag artists to deliver food and performances. D'Arcy Drollinger is an actor, writer, director, choreographer, producer, entrepreneur, and a native San Franciscan. D’Arcy is the owner and artistic director of OASIS, which employs 200 individuals and was voted San Francisco's best nightclub/cabaret. D’Arcy is the producer, director, and co-star of the long-running Bay Area holiday tradition, The Golden Girls Live.

Catholic Charities St. Joseph’s Family Center is one of the few emergency family shelters offering housing and support services to San Francisco families prior to transition into long-term, permanent housing. Their children’s program provides entertaining and enriching activities everyday to the children living in the Center. We serve children between birth and age 18 with daily activities catered to each age group: tutoring, field trips, referrals, and much more. Some of our activities include dance, art, gardening, cooking, and music classes. Our children are going through an incredibly difficult time, but our program is here to support them through it. On Saturday, June 22 from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, we will take an all-day field trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940. We would love to have Rotarians help chaperone our kids on the bus and throughout the trip. Admission and transportation will be provided. Please meet at 899 Guerrero Street, San Francisco, CA 94110. The bus will leave promptly at 9 AM. It is highly recommended to wear comfortable clothing, comfortable shoes, and sun protection. Registration closes on Thursday, June 20, 2024. |
