For many Asian American youth, talking about mental health is not a common or comfortable occurrence. Whether within the family space or even among peers, many Asian Americans feel there is a lack of a safe space to share challenges or experiences with mental health struggles.

To fill this gap, our young ALPS leaders has planned a Mental Health Support Day for the community on February 26, 2022 at Stonestown Sports Basement. Our youth have been working with their Leadership Coach, Kira Harman, to plan this event since November 2021. They have learned valuable event-planning skills, such as securing a venue, budgeting, and planning activities and workshops. They have also developed along their leadership journeys as they have found their voice, clarified their personal values and are preparing to lead community members together in connection through a shared educational and expressive experience.

Join us on February 26 for an afternoon of education, fellowship, and support through a paper crane mental health support activity. Follow @alpsrotary on Instagram for the latest updates with this project and more! Or, reach out to Harmony Ma, ALPS Program Manager, for more information.

Flyer text reads: Gather with others of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of community, paper crane origami, and mental health education. Paper and refreshments will be provided.
