President Bob Hermann, Jr. (Information Technology: Administration | Retired) welcomed Rotarians and guests to our Evening Meeting at MoMo's on November 21, 2024. Due to the success of the Evening Meeting Pilot Program, the Board of Directors agreed to continue the monthly Evening Meeting through President Bob's Rotary year.
 
President Bob and Dan Joraanstad (Financial Services: Advising | Retired) passed out lemons from their yard for all to enjoy.
 
Mary GorskiMember Moment
Mary Gorski (Retired) led the Member Moment. She introduced herself as a new member of our Club. Mary has a long history of volunteering and joined our Club to explore new volunteer opportunities. She is drawn toward maternal health and RYLA. Vocationally, Mary has worked in real estate, as a yoga instructor, and as a book seller. She has three adult daughters and enjoys living an active lifestyle. Welcome to the Club, Mary, and thanks for sharing your story!
 
Family House
Christopher Wiseman (San Francisco Rotary Foundation) talked about the recent service project at Family House. See full story here. The next opportunity to volunteer at Family House will be in spring 2025.

Update on DEI Film Festival
President-Elect Frank Yoke III (Development | Serra Residential Center, Inc.) talked about the recent film shown — Free the Mind, a documentary on how veterans with PTSD and children with autism or ADHD used mediation, yoga, or breathing exercises to manage their anxiety and other disorders. The next DEI film will be shown on January 19, 2025 and will be on a family's experience with the Holocaust. We will also hear from a fellow Rotarian who is a Holocaust survivor.
 
Upcoming Events
Jessica HansenAlliance for Smiles' Mission in Vietnam
President Bob introduced Jessica Hansen (Nonprofit Management | Alliance for Smiles). Jessica spoke about Alliance for Smiles' recent mission to Vietnam, which our Foundation financially supported. She shared photos of the approximately 200 children who benefitted from the cleft lip or palate surgery and added that the goal of this mission was to train the local medical doctors so that they could perform these surgeries in the future. Immediate Past President Sunny Singh (Financial Services: Advising | PK Wealth Management) volunteered on this mission, and we look forward to hearing from him about his experience.
 
Building Education
Wendy Shew (Nonprofit Administration | Building Education) introduced Santosh Pandey, who had flown in from Nepal for this gala to benefit Building Education's 6th and 7th school rebuild project. Santosh had benefitted from education himself and wanted to get involved. He is now a project manager for Building Education.
 
Raffle Prizes
Tonight's winners were Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles) and Ozan Yasavur (Engineering: Mechanical | Bioforcetech Corporation).
 
The Evening Meeting will be dark in December 2024 and will resume on January 16, 2025.
