
Rotary Club of San Francisco
The Rotary Club of San Francisco Board of Directors met on February 25, 2025 via Zoom. President Bob Hermann called the meeting to order at 4:01 PM. Nancy Graydon, Secretary, recorded the minutes.
In attendance were Gary Dales, Dan Davies, Nancy Graydon, President Bob Hermann, Tim Hornbecker, Margaret Miley, Maureen O'Shea, Todd St Vrain, Darlene Wilson, and Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Absent were Stephen Geisheker, Bridget Mahoney, Sunny Singh, and Ozan Yasavur. Our guest was Executive Secretary Dora Dye.
Minutes
The Board reviewed and approved the January 28, 2025 minutes as amended.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Gary Dales reviewed the financial reports and noted that the Club is in a strong financial position with net assets of $100,363 and a cash balance of $124,798. Gary recognized the President for having done an outstanding job with dues collection. The Board unanimously approved the Treasurer's Report as presented.
Committee Reports
- Youth Services: Todd St Vrain gave an update on the recruitment of facilitators and staff for the 2025 RYLA Camp.
- Development: Maureen O'Shea reported on the recent successful Super Bowl Pool and plans for an upcoming thank-a-thon to our membership for generous donations.
- PR and Communications: President Bob thanked Dan Davies for promoting Club events on Instagram.
- Membership: Margaret Miley announced that the next Welcome to the Club will held on April 3, 2025 and hosted by Robin Azevedo.
- Community Service: Darlene Wilson invited all to the next service project at Family House on April 16, 2025 and the Bike Build on April 26, 2025.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Tim Hornbecker invited all to the Ramadan dinner on March 25, 2025 and the next film on March 30, 2025. President-Elect Frank Yoke re-verified a $1K grant approval for DEI, and Tim agreed to follow up with the San Francisco Rotary Foundation.
- Club Services: Name badge labels need to be replenished. There is a missing credit card charger that needs to be found. Items belonging to our Club that are currently housed at Hoogasian Flowers will be relocated to our Club's storage locker.
- Salvation Army Literacy Program: President-Elect Frank Yoke gave an update on this program.
Other Business
- Payments to Rotary International: President Bob noted that Rotary International processes physical checks slowly due to remote staffing and urged our Club to move to automated payments when possible and to allow the Treasurer to make the payments once there is Board approval. Recent time lag issues with Rotary International postings have been addressed.
- Club's Bylaws: A recent review of the Club's Bylaws revealed that no changes were needed.
- 2025-2026 Grants Cycle: Any member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco in good standing may submit a grant proposal. The deadline for submission is March 27, 2025.
- Upcoming Events: The 2025 District 5150 Conference will be held on May 15-18, 2025 in Santa Rosa, California. The 2025 Rotary International Convention will be held on June 21-25, 2025 in Calgary, Canada.
Rotarian of the Month
The Board selected the April 2025 Rotarian of the Month to be announced at an upcoming Club meeting.

Financial Report
Treasurer Gary Dales reviewed the financial report and noted revenue of $223,000 and expenses of $193,025 at the end of January 2025, generating a surplus of $30,264.

Other Business
The Bylaws for Club Service require revisions to bring them up to date. Gary Dales, President Bob Hermann, Stacey Poole, and President-Elect Frank Yoke will collaborate on the revisions and get them finalize before the start of the 2025-2026 Rotary year.
