Reflecting on the past two months, I am proud of our Club's progress. Our July visioning sessions will shape our Club’s future. We’re eager to share the results with you on a Zoom session on September 5. Please register here to learn about our Master Plan and the next steps. It’s important!
We also achieved significant progress with our once a month evening meeting at MoMo’s. This new format has been successful. It provides an option for those unable to attend lunch meetings and attracts potential new members. It also provides partnering opportunities with other Rotary clubs.
Our Club leadership supported the largest-ever Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) in Scotts Valley, with excellent participation from our members and other Rotary clubs to lead and support this effort.
In August, we provided scholarships to several young adults, who were themselves RYLA attendees and are now emerging leaders. The poignant conversations from the scholars highlighted the profound impact of these financial gifts on their lives.
On the membership front, we are delighted to welcome three new members in August, adding to the three new members from July, with more on the horizon for September. This expansion strengthens our Rotary family and reinforces our inclusive and welcoming environment and provides opportunities for service.
In following my presidential theme of Tradition, Teaching, and Transformation, we will soon launch “Rotary Revealed: Ask, Learn, Engage” sessions. The first of these focuses on our Club projects for this year. Rotary Revealed will provide opportunities for both new and seasoned Rotarians to explore different aspects of Rotary in an engaging and enjoyable way. I’m excited for the chance to deepen our collective understanding of Rotary while having fun together. Please register here to learn more!
And Fun! We have our upcoming French Wine Tasting, a multi-club Jeopardy (game) battle on the horizon in September, and much more ahead, thanks to our fabulous Social Chair.
I want to commend the Speakers Committee for their outstanding work in bringing in speakers whose topics not only engage and educate but also resonate with current global and local events. Their efforts ensure that our Club stays informed and connected to the world around us. Look for speakers in September with Waymo driverless cars, the Cabaret jazz singer Paula West, and with Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the horizon in October among others.
All of these achievements are a testament to the unwavering support and dedication of each one of you. Our continued success as the second oldest Rotary Club in the world reflects the collective effort and passion within our Club. Your time, talent, and treasures are what make our Club thrive.
Thank you again, for entrusting me with the honor of serving as your President this year. Let’s continue to build on this momentum and make a lasting impact in our world!
Yours in Rotary service,
Bob Hermann
President 2024-2025
