The Interact Club at Lowell High School sponsored the fourth annual College Insight event on Saturday, March 23 at the War Memorial for Interact students and their parents from Rotary District 5150. The event aimed to help students and their families understand the college admission process and financing a college degree.
The program consisted of three parts: Picking the Right College, led by a college counselor from Lowell who encouraged students to look beyond highly popular schools such as the Ivy League and UCs; Insights from a Former College Admissions Officer, with a staff member from Collegewise consulting who offered tips and insights into college applications; and Financing College, led by two financial planners who provided tips for applying for financial aid and resources for scholarships.
The event was attended by 67 high school students and a dozen parents and guardians. This was the first time the College Insight event was held in person.
The Lowell Interact Club is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of San Francisco and the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown. John Dean from the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown serves as the Lowell Interact Advisor as well as the District 5150 Interact Coordinator.
