Rotary Club of San Francisco
President Christopher Wiseman called the January 17, 2023 Board meeting to order at 4:02 PM. Stacey Poole, Secretary, recorded the minutes.
 
In attendance were President Christopher, Gary Dales, Sunny Singh, Wendy Shew, Frank Yoke, Margaret Miley, Jeff Lerner, Maureen O’Shea, Emily Borland, Lisa Christian, Scott Plakun, Brian Lan, Mary Liu, and Stacey Poole, constituting the entire Board. The invited guests were JT Forbus, Robin Azevedo and Grace Reed.
 
Minutes
The Board approved the October 25, 2022 and the November 29, 2022 minutes with an amendment to the spelling of President Christopher's name. Mary Liu abstained from voting on the October 25, 2022 minutes since she was not in attendance.
 
Administrative Issues
President Christopher reported that both January 2023 luncheon meetings had gone well. He reminded everyone that on February 14, 2023, there would be NO Rotary Luncheon. Instead, there would be a low-key "Pal"entine's Happy Hour. 
 
President Christopher talked about the Club Assembly scheduled for February 21, 2023. Each Board Member would have a minute or two to give an update on their committee.
 
President Christopher also discussed Emergency Services Day on February 27, 2023. The next Board Meeting would be on February 28, 2023, and the District Assembly is scheduled for March 25, 2023. He encouraged the Board to be a guest at meetings and events of other Rotary clubs.

Robin Azevedo updated the Board on the 50/50 Campaign. A committee will start making calls to solicit contributions.
 
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer Gary Dales presented the November and December 2022 Financial Statements; the Board approved these Financial Statements. Gary said that the Club remains in a strong financial position, but there are members who need to pay their dues.
 
Membership Report
Vice President of Membership Margaret Miley presented Meagan Mod for membership, and the Board approved.
 
New Business
  • President Christopher revealed his selection for Rotarian of the Month for the months of January and February 2023 and said that these Rotarians would be honored at upcoming meetings.
  • 2023 DDF Funds: Our Club had partnered with the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown in an international project in Uganda. That project was canceled. The DDF Funds would be returned to our Club and must be reallocated by March 1, 2023. The Grants Committee would consult with the International Committee and then reallocate the funds by the deadline.
  • President Christopher discussed the membership survey to be sent out before the Club Assembly. 
  • There was also a discussion on whether text communications are welcome and appropriate for certain events. Immediate Past President Mary Liu was to investigate possible vendors.
The Club meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM.
