Guest Speaker
Angelina Preza introduced today’s speaker - Dr. George Jacob. Dr. Jacob was a Rotarian while he was living in Canada. He is the President and CEO of the Bay Ecotarium and its seven branches including the San Francisco Aquarium. He advocates progressive planning with a focus on ecosystems and the new vision of an ECOTARIUM – a living museum holding up climate literacy and ocean conservation.
Impressively, the Aquarium, a Smithsonian affiliate, is actively involved in many projects either in an operating or advising capacity across the world and is currently focusing on a dramatic rebuild of its San Francisco facility. The architecture of the new facility is inspired by the Ohlone shell mounds that exist around the Bay Area. This no-pillar, prefabricated building will sit within 3.3 acres of green space spanning Piers 35 to 39 attracting tourists and locals alike.
President Sunny thanked Dr. Jacob and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in his name.
The meeting concluded at 1:30 PM.
