President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group) called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM. This was our first Zoom-only meeting in the current Rotary year.

Heidi KuhnAn Update on Afghanistan
President Mary shared a video showing Heidi Kuhn (Peace Building | Roots of Peace) and her husband, Gary Kuhn, racing to save the Afghan employees of Roots of Peace.
 
Upcoming Events
President Mary invited everyone to participate in the upcoming events shown on the Club calendar and on the District calendar. Our Club is planning to host an opportunity to view the Blue Angels in style in October 2021. Stay tuned for details.
 
Service Above Self Moment
On August 21, 2021, our Club along with Lowell High School Interactors, the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown, and friends from TogetherSF, Revive SF Chinatown, SF Chinatown Foot Patrol, and CCREA distributed personal safety alarms to 300 Asian Seniors in the Richmond District and Chinatown.
 
Keith AxtellEcuador Microcredit Grant
Keith Axtell joined to speak on the Ecuador Microcredit Grant that our Club funded with $2,500 DDF monies. The goals are to provide an opportunity for low-income people to establish small manufacturing and craft businesses for 100-115 low-income and unemployed people in Santa Elena Province, Ecuador.

The audience had a few minutes to share their favorite song and artist of all time. Many oldies and goodies were posted on the chat.
 
Doug LloydGuest Speaker
Dan Davies (Information Technology: Consulting | North American Lighting) introduced today's speaker — Doug Lloyd, a strategic operation, business development, and strategy expert with a passion for the self-driving, autonomous, and electric vehicles industry. Doug gave an overview of the state of electric vehicles, the state of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous vehicles (AVs), and the technologies behind them. President Mary thanked Doug and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in his name. 
 
The meeting was adjourned at 1:29 p.m.
