President Christopher Wiseman (Nonprofit Management | Glaucoma Research Foundation) called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM. He welcomed those online and those attending in person inside the Anzu Restaurant at the Hotel Nikko. The meeting began with a holiday song to welcome the season of celebration and merriment. 
 
Visiting Rotarians and Guests
Today's Visiting Rotarians were Steve Sibulsky from the Rotary Club of Valle Verde-Green Valley in Arizona, Karen Schmautz - mother of Eric Schmautz (Banking: Management | Wells Fargo) - from the Rotary Club of Indian Rocks Beach in Florida, and Carrie Schucker from a Rotary club in Davis. We also welcomed Ilene Wolf and today's speaker - Reverend Glenda Hope. 
 
President Christopher and Visiting Rotarian Steve did a Rotary flag exchange.

Be sure to register for the Holiday Party and Annual Meeting on December 13, 2022. This year's party includes a contest for “Best Sweater” and “Most Festive Outfit”. Come early to sign up for a session with make-up artist, Lawrence Wu, who will transform you to the height of glitz and glamour! Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for the SF Firefighters Toy Program for children (infant to age 13) and books for those over the age of 13.
 
News from Club Members
Heidi Kuhn (Peace Building | Roots of Peace) joined to talk about how Roots of Peace is expanding its efforts to assist in Ukraine by converting land masses with mines to vines. 
 
John Mathers (Management Consulting | eVo Associates) gave a report on the recent Assisi Global Climate Action Forum. He talked about the successes and opportunities related to climate change.

Barbara StreettRotarian of the Month
President Christopher announced that Barbara Streett (Nonprofit Administration | The Arc San Francisco) is the Rotarian of the Month for December 2022. Barbara has been our Club's connection to insure meal deliveries by Rotarians to participants of The Arc and to making Thanksgiving at The Arc happen this year. Congratulations, Barbara!

  • Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group), joined by John Mathers and Tim Hornbecker (Nonprofit Management | Retired, The Arc CA), donated to thank Eric Schmautz for leading and cooking for Thanksgiving at The Arc SF.
  • JT Forbus (Accounting | Bogdan & Frasco) donated to celebrate 25 years at his accounting firm.
  • David Dye (Management Consulting | Retired) donated to share his facilitation of a session on how to reconnect and engage Interactors, Rotaractors, and other Rotary youth programs at the recent Rotary Zones 26 and 27 Institute.
  • Jim Patrick (Retail: Office Supplies | Patrick & Co.) donated to share that the world has has no polio cases for 11 weeks.
Guest Speaker
Ann Daugherty (Financial Services: Private Trading | IBN Financial Services) introduced Reverend Glenda Hope. Reverend Hope is a Presbyterian minister who shared her work to help women transition out of prostitution. At an age when most of us would retire, Reverend Hope took upon this mission. Her presentation was uplifting and inspiring. President Christopher thanked Reverend Hope and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in her name.
