President Sunny Singh (Financial Services: Advising | PK Wealth Management) called today's meeting to order at 12:18 PM and welcomed those online and those attending in person at the Anzu Restaurant in the Hotel Nikko.
 
Bridget MahoneyNew Members Inducted
President Sunny and Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles) inducted Bridget Mahoney (Nonprofit Administration | Catholic Charities SF) into our Club. Bridget becomes the newest member of our corporate member - Catholic Charities San Francisco and expressed her excitement to participate in the many activities that our Club has to offer.
 
Hana Xu WangPresident Sunny and Anita welcomed back Hana Xu Wang (Financial Services: Advising | Wang Wealth Advisors, LLC) to our Club. Hana had been an active member of our Club for a decade, but left during the height of the pandemic. Said Hana, "I missed Rotary during my absence and am glad to be back."
 
A warm welcome to both Bridget and Hana! When you see either Bridget or Hana at one of our meetings or events, please introduce yourself to them.
 
Introductory PRLS
Past President Richard Swart of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown in his capacity as Rotary District 5150 PRLS Co-Director invited the audience to attend Introductory PRLS (Potential Rotary Leaders Seminar) on Saturday, July 22, 2023. 
 
Report on DEI Film Festival
Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scott Plakun (Management Consulting | The Plakun Group) talked about the successful showing of the first film in the DEI Film Festival on July 16, 2023. The next film will be shown on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Check our website and Grindings as we get closer for more information and tickets.

We welcomed Willie Santamaria and Thea Smith, both visiting from the Rotary Club of Daly City/Colma Evening, and Richard Swart, visiting from the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown. Angelina Preza (Sales: Travel | Aquarium of the Bay) introduced her guest - Niko Kowell. Today's speakers and performers from SFJAZZ were introduced later.
 
Honoring Christopher Wiseman
President Sunny presented a gavel to Immediate Past President Christopher Wiseman (Nonprofit Management | Glaucoma Research Foundation) and thanked Christopher for his outstanding leadership in the 2022-2023 Rotary year.
 
 
2023-2024 Invoices for Club Dues
President Sunny asked members to check their email for the 2023-2024 invoice for Club dues and to take action on the invoice.
 
Todd St VrainMember Moment
Todd St Vrain (Education: Administration | University of Melbourne) shared his significant moments in life with us. We learned about his educational background, his career in education, his love for travel, the different places in the world where he has lived, and his strong interest in learning new languages. Todd joined our Club in May 2022 and became our Vice President of Youth Services at the start of this month.

Guest Speakers
President-Elect Bob Hermann (Information Technology: Administration | Retired UCSF) introduced today's speakers from SFJAZZ:  Mark Malaspina and Kevin Tomlinson. Mark spoke about the history of SFJAZZ while Kevin talked about the programming. Then, the audience was treated to a delightful performance by musicians Eli Silverman and Simon Aks.
 
 
President Sunny thanked Mark, Kevin, Eli, and Simon and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in the name of SFJAZZ. The meeting concluded at 1:32 PM.

President Sunny thanked today's meeting volunteers: Dora Dye (Education: Elementary and Community College | San Francisco and San Mateo Counties) for serving as scribe; Jim Patrick (Retail: Office Supplies | Patrick & Co.) for serving as photographer; JT Forbus (Accounting | Bogdan & Frasco) for managing the microphone; Kirt Burdick of the Academy of Art University for managing the audio-visual equipment during our in-person meeting; Tim Hornbecker for serving as greeter; and Gary Dales (Accounting | Fly Leasing) and Carlo Valdes (Real Estate: Sales | Aeternum Holdings, Inc.) for doing check-in at the Hotel Nikko.
