President-Elect Nominee Sunny Singh (Financial Services: Advising | PK Wealth Management) called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM and welcomed everyone attending either online or in person inside the Anzu Restaurant.
 
Visiting Rotarians and Special Guests
Today's Visiting Rotarians were Ryan Beil from the Rotary Club of Dallas and Narasimha Dwarakanath, an immediate past Rotary president from Bangalore, India. Andrés Vera (Entertainment | Self-employed) introduced his guests - John Ferguson and Dr. Amr Selim. Lynn Luckow (Development | LikeMinded.org) introduced his guest - Sam Eriksmoen. Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles) introduced Mary Fermi; Mary will be inducted into our Club next week. Dan Joraanstad (Financial Services: Advising | Retired) introduced Caryl Ito, who happens to be a neighbor to both Dan and Bob Hermann (Information Technology: Administration | Retired UCSF). Other guests today were ALPS Program Manager Harmony Ma who attended via Zoom and today's speaker - Barry Posner who attended in person.
 
Rotary Flag Exchange
There was a flag exchange between Bill Poppen (Banking: Management | MUFG Union Bank) representing our Club and Narasimha Dwarakanath representing his club in Bangalore, India. The second flag exchange was between Bill Poppen representing our Club and Ryan Beil representing the Rotary Club of Dallas.

Red Badge Completed
Ozan Yasavur (Engineering: Mechanical | Bioforcetech Corporation) completed his Red Badge requirements and was relieved of the red ribbon on his name badge with the help of Dan Joraanstad. Congratulations!
 
 
A New Baby
Csongor Czezar (Information Technology: Computer Science) and his wife, Jenny, welcomed their firstborn child, Klaus, on May 22, 2022. Congratulations to the Czezar family!
 
Share Your Good News ($20 for Twenty Seconds)
Andrés Vera donated to celebrate having raised over $10,000 to increase the LGBTQ+ knowledge on Wikipedia. Through this project, Wiki Education aims to train a diverse group of academics, scholars, and university students how to contribute content to Wikipedia while better representing historical figures to the public. The goal is to increase Wikipedia’s representation of the LGBTQ+ community.
 
Upcoming Events
In addition to the June 2022 events posted on the Club Calendar, there is also a Book Drive. ALPS Program Manager Harmony Ma introduced a student who talked about how to donate to this Drive. Lynn Luckow talked about the upcoming RYLA to be held on August 3-7, 2022.
 
Weekly Recap
Stacey Poole (Law: Family | Lerner Poole & Stewart, LLP) shared about the recent Club Social at an Escape Room. She, President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group), and President-Elect Christopher Wiseman (Event Planning | Glaucoma Research Foundation) had a great time. Stacey thanked everyone for supporting the Club's social activities and announced that after the June 11, 2022 Club Picnic, she will hand over the job of Social Chair to Alisha Marfatia (Information Technology: E-Commerce | EvolveWare).
 
There was a safety alarm distribution on May 28, 2022 in Oakland's Chinatown. President Mary Liu and her husband, James Wong, along with President-Elect Christopher Wiseman joined the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown and the Rotary Club of Oakland to distribute personal safety alarms to Asian seniors in Oakland’s Chinatown where Asian hate is still prevalent. 300 alarms was given out along with instructions on how to use the alarms and safety tips from the Oakland Police Department. This was a huge collaboration among the Rotary Club of San Francisco, the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown, the Oakland Police Department, the Oakland Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Asian United, and the FBI Asian Task Force. Afterwards, the Rotarians enjoyed a dim sum lunch and fellowship. Another distribution is scheduled for Saturday, June 18 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Register here to volunteer.
 
Oakland and San Francisco volunteers
 
President-Elect Nominee Sunny participated in the assembly of hygiene kits on June 4, 2022 with Darlene Wilson (Nonprofit Administration | Catholic Charities SF) and other volunteers.
 
Dan Joraanstad, Bob Hermann, Chris Davies (Real Estate: Property Management | Self-employed), and Lance Scott (Nonprofit Administration | The Arc San Francisco) delivered meals for The Arc San Francisco on June 6, 2022.
 
Guest Speaker
Lynn Luckow introduced today's guest speaker, Barry Posner, Professor of Leadership and Chair of the Management and Entrepreneurship Department at Santa Clara University. Professor Posner's ‘The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership,’ is often described as "an operating system for leadership that offers universal applications for every leader.” This approach has been validated by youth, adults, and working professionals and forms the conceptual basis for RYLA and ALPS.
 
 
President-Elect Nominee Sunny thanked Barry and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in his name.
 
Live from the Rotary International Convention
President Mary and Jessica Hansen (Nonprofit Management | Alliance for Smiles) joined our meeting via Zoom. Both were attending the Rotary International Convention in Houston, Texas.
