President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group) called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone attending either online or in person inside the Anzu Restaurant.

President-Elect Christopher Wiseman (Event Planning | Glaucoma Research Foundation) introduced his guests - Kenzie Ferguson, Beth Muzy, Roger Rajeshinhia, Cat San Agustin, and Allen Habel. Also present was Mary Fermi.

Red Badge Completed
William Gregory (Educational Services | Retired) completed his Red Badge requirements and was relieved of the red ribbon on his name badge. Congratulations!

  • Sally Swanson (Engineering, Architecture, and Construction | Sally Swanson Architects) has a new contract with the State of Hawaii regarding correctional facilities.
  • Andrés Vera (Entertainment | Self-employed) attended a friend's wedding in Bodega Bay over the weekend. He shared that he is currently learning about ozone-depletion, fighting qualities of seaweed.
  • President-Elect Christopher expressed happiness for having his special guests in the audience today.
  • Emily Borland (Engineering, Architecture, and Construction | Emily Borland Specifications) expressed gratitude for the COVID vaccines. Some attending via Zoom today have tested positive, but thanks to the vaccines, no one is in the hospital.
  • President Mary was thankful to have tested negative and is looking forward to the Rotary International Convention.

Coffee and Conversation with President Mary on May 19, 2022: Three members and one potential member joined President Mary for coffee and great conversation to learn more about Rotary. President Mary took the opportunity to learn more about her guests.
 
Interact Spring Leadership Conference on May 21, 2022: The 2022 Spring Leadership Conference for Interactors was held at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Thank you to David Dye (Management Consulting | Retired) and PDG Mary Bates for the countless hours spent to help the Interactors set up this Conference. Thank you to John Dean (Education: Law | Dean Dispute Resolution), President Mary, and other Rotarians from Rotary District 5150 for being there that Saturday for these students.

Diane StarkGuest Speaker
Bob Hermann introduced today's guest speaker, Diane Stark, from the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. Diane joined the meeting via Zoom. She has been with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank during the past four years. As the Associate Director of Institutional Giving, Diane partners with foundations and government agencies to secure funds to distribute food to residents of San Francisco and Marin counties. She spoke on the services provided by this Food Bank and the continued need for food and funding for food.
 
Allan Herzog (Financial Services: Advising | Wells Fargo Advisors) donated $2,000 on the spot and challenged others in the audience to match his donation. Bob Hermann and Dan Joraanstad (Financial Services: Advising | Retired) each donated $500. They were followed by these Rotarians who each donated $100: President Mary, Nancy Graydon, Sally Swanson, Emily Borland, Larry Booth (Engineering: Mechanical | Frank M. Booth, Inc.), Robin Azevedo (Retail:  Mattresses | McRoskey Mattress Company), Dr. Jianying Chen (Healthcare:  Acupuncture | American Institute of Zhizhen Therapy and New Qigong), Maureen O'Shea (Governmental Relations | Retired), Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles), and Kathryn McCall (Law: Corporate |Trustly, Inc.).
 
Allan Herzog challenges the audience to match his $2,000 donation to the SF-Marin Food Bank.
 
President Mary thanked Diane and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in her name.
 
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
