Rotary Club of San Francisco
The Rotary Club of San Francisco Board of Directors met on May 20, 2025 via Zoom. President Bob Hermann called the meeting to order at 4:02 PM. Nancy Graydon, Secretary, recorded the minutes.
 
In attendance were Gary Dales, Dan Davies, Stephen Geisheker, Nancy Graydon, President Bob Hermann, Tim Hornbecker, Maureen O'Shea, Darlene Wilson, Ozan Yasavur, and Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Absent were Bridget Mahoney, Margaret Miley, Sunny Singh, and Todd St Vrain. Our guests were Executive Secretary Dora Dye, Dan Joraanstad representing the Membership Committee, and Christopher Wiseman — President of the San Francisco Rotary Foundation.
 
Minutes
The Board reviewed and approved the April 22, 2025 minutes as presented.
 
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Gary Dales reviewed the financial reports and noted that the Club continues to be in a strong financial position with net assets of $89,521 and $104,200 in cash. The Club has a surplus of $26,246 and is approximately $17,000 ahead of budget due to the surplus from the Holiday Party and its ability to operate below budget in areas such as lunch costs, Club President expenses, and Club Services. The Board unanimously approved the Treasurer's Report as presented.
 
2025 Grant Recommendations
A total of 33 grant applications were submitted this year as follows: 3 youth grants, 1 DEI grant, 12 community service grants, 8 international service grants, 3 international service grants using District-Designated Funds (DDF) only, 1 community service grant, and 5 new projects.
 
President-Elect Frank Yoke presented 27 grant proposals for the Board's consideration. The Board approved the following grant proposals totaling $203,637 in cash and the amounts listed below in DDF:

Other Business
  • Rotarian of the Year: The Board unanimously approved Christopher Davies for Rotarian of the Year.
  • Club Excellence Awards: At the recent District 5150 Conference, the Rotary Club of San Francisco received six Club Excellence Awards for outstanding achievement in the following: Membership, Community Service, International Service, Youth Service, Public Image, and Vocational Service. President Bob thanked the Board for their hard work this year and said that these awards reflect our Club's strong leadership and unwavering commitment to service and community.
Committee Reports
  • Membership: Dan Joraanstad presented Eric Orantes' application for membership. The Board approved Eric Orantes for membership.
  • Community Service: Darlene Wilson announced the remaining community service projects for the balance of this Rotary year. All projects were posted on the Club's calendar.
  • Development: Maureen O'Shea announced the calling party on June 18, 2025 to thank members for their generous support.
  • Club Services: PE Frank Yoke presented on behalf of Ozan Yasavur and spoke about the upcoming events to honor President Bob Hermann and the continued training on meeting registration procedures with incoming Club Services Chair, Ann Daugherty. 
  • International Service: Stephen Geisheker talked about the number of international grant requests. 
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Tim Hornbecker called for additional help to sustain the DEI Film Festival. Needs included communications, film review and selection, and ordering food and beverages. Tim descibed the upcoming DEI Events posted on the Club calendar.

The Trustees of Rotary Service, Inc. met on May 20, 2025 via Zoom. President Bob Hermann called the meeting to order at 5:17 PM. Nancy Graydon, Secretary, recorded the minutes. 
 
In attendance were Gary Dales, Dan Davies, Stephen Geisheker, Nancy Graydon, President Bob Hermann, Tim Hornbecker, Maureen O'Shea, Darlene Wilson, Christopher Wiseman, Ozan Yasavur, and Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Absent were Bridget Mahoney, Margaret Miley, Sunny Singh, and Todd St Vrain. 
 
Minutes
The Trustees reviewed and approved the April 22, 2025 Service, Inc. minutes.
 
Financial Report
Treasurer Gary Dales reviewed the financial report and noted revenue of $276,713 and expenses of $304,445 at the end of April 2025. Primary expenses in April included $22,381 for the Bike Build and $37,708 for Camp RYLA. Notable revenue in April included $14,414 in grants from the San Francisco Rotary Foundation.
 
The Trustees then approved the financial report as presented by Treasurer Gary Dales.
 
Other Business
President Bob provided an update on the revisions to the Bylaws for Club Service and said that changes would be presented to the Trustees during the 2025-2026 Rotary year.
