In an inspiring display of community spirit, our Club members, along with Rotarians from District 5150, came together for the San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
A standout moment of the day was our Club’s enthusiastic participation. Dressed in our custom bright neon yellow vests, our members were a symbol of unity and commitment, instantly recognizable throughout the event. In fact, our Club members proudly led the walk procession!
Walkers had the option to choose between a one-mile route from Pier 29 to Fisherman’s Wharf and back, or to extend their trek to the Ferry Building. Many opted for the longer journey, and we wrapped up the walk with a delicious dim sum lunch at Harborview Restaurant — a perfect opportunity to strengthen friendships and share stories.
The weather was simply perfect, with clear blue skies and warm sunshine accompanying us along the way. Numerous vendors had set up display tables to offer valuable resources about Alzheimer’s, while others generously provided snacks and water bottles, ensuring everyone stayed fueled and hydrated.
The energy was infectious, and our efforts proved incredibly successful — not just for our Club, but also for the Alzheimer’s Association. Surpassing our original goal of $5,000, we proudly raised a total of $5,480!
A huge thank you to our Club members, their families, and friends who either walked or donated to support the cause. Special recognition goes to the San Francisco Rotary Foundation, President Bob Hermann, Past Presidents Christopher Wiseman and Mary Liu, Dan Joraanstad, Phil Ye and his friend Ben, Todd St Vrain, Bill Gregory, Emily Borland, President-elect Frank Yoke, Nancy Graydon, Anita Stangl, Eric Sleigh, and Tim Hornbecker. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to these additional donors: A Black Tie Affair, Jeff & Kames, Dina Brulles, Karen and Terence, and Robin J. Heyden. Your unwavering generosity and support have made a profound difference. Every step we took and every dollar raised brings us closer to a future free from Alzheimer's. Let’s celebrate this achievement and continue to make a positive impact in our community!
