The Rotary Club of San Francisco is reactivating its Anti-Human Trafficking Committee after several years of inactivity. This Committee will help our Club better understand and address the issue of human trafficking through education, partnerships, and service.
According to the United Nations, human trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons through force, fraud, coercion, or abuse for the purpose of exploitation. Today, an estimated 49.6 million people are living in modern slavery worldwide, while human trafficking generates approximately $150 billion annually, making it one of the world’s largest criminal enterprises.

Visiting Rotarian and Guests
Tonight's Visiting Rotarian was Lucy Malcolm from the Rotary Club of Hayward Area in Wisconsin. This evening's guests were Peter Carlstrom, Eric Sleigh, and Samantha Thayler.
President Frank Yoke called the meeting via Zoom to order at 4:02 p.m. on June 23, 2026. Secretary Dora Dye recorded the minutes. In attendance were Gary Dales, Ann Daugherty, Dora Dye, Bob Hermann, Tim Hornbecker, Margaret Miley, Maureen O’Shea, Hana Xu Wang, Ozan Yasavur, and President Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Stephen Geisheker joined the meeting but left at 4:40 p.m. Absent were Stellie Kim, Wendy Shew, and Darlene Wilson. President Frank welcomed our guests: David Folk, Mary Liu, Alisha Marfatia, Stacey Poole, Kayla Trunecek, and Christopher Wiseman.
Approval of Board Minutes
The Board approved with one abstention the May 26, 2026 meeting minutes.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Gary Dales presented the Balance Sheet and the Statement of Operations through May 31, 2026 for the Rotary Club of San Francisco. He said that President Frank would end his term on June 30, 2026 and leave the Club in good financial condition. The Board then approved the June 2026 Treasurer’s Report as presented. There was a discussion regarding the United Nations funds. The Board approved the transfer of $17,600 of the United Nations funds to Rotary Service, Inc.
Bonnie Joy Kaslan, Retired Honorary Consul General of the Turkish Republic, will speak to our Club about the role of citizen diplomacy, Rotary, and the evolution and contributions of the Turkish American community in the United States.

San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, who represents District 1, will share what she is going to do for us when she gets to Congress. She has spent her life giving back to the San Francisco community that welcomed her family when they immigrated to America.
Inspired by the 2026-2027 Rotary International theme, Create Lasting Impact, let’s gather for a Family BBQ (potluck style) and Swim Party. This is also an opportunity to meet the new baby in our Rotary family. All members and guests of the Rotary Club of San Francisco are welcome. Registration is required for planning purposes.
Join us for our Club's NEXT EVENING MEETING where we will conduct some Club business, have dinner, and enjoy Rotary fellowship. There is no charge to attend this meeting, but each attendee pays individually for food and beverages ordered at MoMo's. Please register yourself and your guests so that we can plan the space.
Rotaplast started as a world community service project of the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 1992-1993, and since then, has sponsored over 200 missions and helped over 20,000 children. Bring smiles to children around the world by participating in (or supporting) this tournament with Rotary clubs throughout our District 5150 and beyond. Funds raised will benefit the mission in Nagamangala, India.
Join Family House, a grant partner for the Rotary Club of San Francisco. Our Club will sponsor a catered dinner for that evening. Volunteers will help support the evening, participate in a cleaning project, and spend time with approximately 70 Family House families and staff. Event is limited to 10 people, and Rotarians may bring a guest. Volunteers are encouraged to wear Rotary-branded attire that can get dirty, as well as layers to be prepared for multiple weather conditions.
