LUNCHEON MEETING HIGHLIGHTS February 7, 2023: Jack McBrayer
Immediate Past President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group) opened the meeting. President Christopher Wiseman (Nonprofit Management | Glaucoma Research Foundation) was under the weather and participated via Zoom. After Immediate Past President Mary made opening remarks, Past President JT Forbus (Accounting | Bogdan & Frasco) took over the helm and ran today's meeting held online and in person inside the Anzu Restaurant at the Hotel Nikko.
 
Visiting Rotarians and Guests
We had two visiting Rotarians: Melissa Cross - past president of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Evening and Joel Valdez from the Rotary Club of Manila. Joel and Past President JT exchanged Rotary flags. Joel told the audience that his Rotary club is 104 years old and the largest in Asia. Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles) introduced her guest - Andrea Gung of the Duo Duo Project, whose mission is to end the dog and cat meat trade in China. Maureen O'Shea (Governmental Relations | Retired) introduced her guest - Alicia Tos of the Smuin Contemporary Ballet. Other guests were Stephen DeLay, Jennie Held, and today's speaker - Jack McBrayer.

The Monday Night Supper Club at The Arc returns to in-person services. Enjoy the opportunity to help with meal set-up and then, sit, eat, and get to know The Arc's participants. This event is limited to 8 volunteers maximum.
 
 
CLUB SOCIAL February 14, 2023: Palentine's Happy Hour
There will be NO Rotary Luncheon on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Instead, we'll be hosting a low-key "Pal"entine's Happy Hour at a member's home with light bites and drinks included on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM. All Rotarians, their families, and guests are welcome. Join us to celebrate Rotary friendships.

SPECIAL EVENT February 27, 2023: Emergency Services Day
On Emergency Services Day, the Rotary Club of San Francisco annually honors outstanding representatives of the departments that we depend on for our public safety: the Fire Department, the Department of Emergency Management, the Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, the Coast Guard, and the Recreation and Park Rangers. This year, ESD will be held at the Academy of Art Automobile Museum. Join us for this very special in-person event. SOLD OUT

SERVICE PROJECT February 28, 2023: Diaper Bag Assembly for Homeless Prenatal Program
Join us at this service opportunity to stuff diaper bags and organize diapers and wipes for giveaway to clients of the Homeless Prenatal Program. We will meet at an open-air warehouse to allow social distancing while stuffing the bags and organizing the goods. Participation is limited to 10 people, so sign up early. Facial mask is required. 
 
VOCATIONAL MEETING March 2, 2023: Professional Portrait and Business Networking
Join us on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM to learn how to support your business and mingle with other professionals in the community. The evening includes networking, a photo opportunity, light bites, and beverages. Advanced registration required.
 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON March 7, 2023: Mark Flegel and the Young Paul Harris
Past District 5150 Governor Mark Flegel is a businessman, a philanthropist, and an active Rotarian. He joins our luncheon to speak on the life of young Paul Harris, the Founder of Rotary.
 
Baby Showers for Homeless Prenatal Program: March 8, 2023
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1:00 PM. Registration is limited to two Rotarians at each shower. Mask and on-site COVID test required.
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT March 11, 2023: Cameron House Comfort Bag Assembly and Dim Sum Lunch
Join us at Cameron House in San Francisco’s Chinatown to assemble comfort bags full of toiletries and basic needs for Cameron House’s Domestic Violence Survivors. After the assembly, we will walk over to a nearby Dim Sum restaurant for lunch. Register early as the number of volunteers is limited to 10 people. All participants must wear a mask covering the nose and the mouth.
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON March 14, 2023: Jessica Hansen and Burning Man
Burning Man is difficult to explain and best understood through experience, but since not everyone has the chance (or inclination) to join the event in person, Club Member Jessica Hansen - long time “Burner” and board member of Mystopia - will provide a glimpse into the annual gathering and temporary city in the desert of Black Rock City, Nevada.
