It is our opportunity to honor the San Francisco Police Department, the San Francisco Fire Department, the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office, and the Coast Guard and thank them for their dedication and service in our City.

In the span of a few days, Rotarians from our Club completed a service project, celebrated with one of our Club's partners, and held a tree-planting activity to honor the life and memory of the wife of Rotary Meadow founder and past president of our Club, Harold Hoogasian.
Service Project: The Diaper Bag Assembly for the Homeless Prenatal Program occurred on March 11, 2026. Robin Azevedo, Kayla Trunecek, and Ruth Wenzel assembled diaper bags. They were joined by Christian Hernandez and Patti Urban; both are Visiting Rotarians from Coral Gables, Florida who were in San Francisco for a wedding. Said Robin, "We enjoyed getting to know the Visiting Rotarians and swapping stories about our Clubs."
On a beautiful Saturday morning (March 14, 2026) with sweeping views of the Bay, members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco joined SFSU Climate HQ students and staff for a hands-on restoration workday at the Native Plant Nursery run by Literacy for Environmental Justice in Candlestick Park. Together, our 35 volunteers — alongside 5 dedicated LEJ staff — transplanted native iris and sticky monkey flower, moved dirt, and put in a full week's worth of work before lunchtime, fueled by good conversation and pizza.
The feedback said it all. Every single respondent rated the experience "Excellent" or "Very Good" and called it "Extremely Valuable" — and every one said they'd "Definitely" do it again. Participants highlighted the joy of working side by side: SFSU students, community college students, and Rotarians forming new friendships while doing something that genuinely matters. One volunteer summed it up perfectly: "The Native Plant Nursery is such a hidden gem. It is uplifting to see students and Rotarians work side by side on this important work."
In recognition of Women’s History Month, our next DEI Film Festival movie is Miss Representation, a powerful documentary on how mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in influential positions by circulating limited and often disparaging portrayals of women. Popcorn and beverages (with and without alcohol) will be available during the screening of the film. We'll have a group discussion over dinner after the movie ends. This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the themes of representation, leadership, and gender equity and to consider how each of us can help create a more inclusive media landscape.

Dedicated to social justice, humanitarian aid, and increasing access to resources and opportunity for others, Club Member Jessica Hansen will speak on her recent and upcoming Women Changing The World awards, her contributon of a chapter to the recently published book Begin It Now, and what’s next with Alliance for Smiles.

Interested in leading a team at the Bike Build? Attend a training session led by Matt Dove of Ybike to learn how the Retrospec Chatham bike is built. Matt will lead the quality control of all bikes produced at the Bike Build.

Come and enjoy the fun at our 16th Annual Bike Build event! We'll be assembling 130 brand new bikes for distribution to kids in Kindergarten through 4th grade in the Bayview Area of San Francisco. Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, partner organizations, friends, and family are all welcome.
