Join RCAT & SFSU Climate HQ for a Climate Justice Service Day Native Plant Nursery Workday | Saturday, March 14, 2026 9:30 AM–12:00 PM | Native Plant Nursery, 1150 Carroll Avenue, San Francisco | Lunch provided!
Get your hands in the soil while making a real difference for climate resilience in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point community!
The Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood faces some of the Bay Area's most severe sea level rise projections. As coastal flooding increases, native plants play a crucial role in protecting shoreline communities — their deep root systems stabilize soil, reduce erosion, and absorb storm surge while creating living barriers that adapt and grow with changing conditions. Unlike hardscapes like seawalls, native plant restoration provides nature-based solutions that strengthen coastal ecosystems while supporting local biodiversity.
Join Rotarians from across the Bay Area and SFSU Climate HQ students for this hands-on volunteer day. You'll help tend and grow native plants, maintain propagation areas, and care for demonstration gardens — all while learning about California native plants and restoration ecology. The plants you nurture will support habitat restoration and climate resilience projects across the region's parks and open spaces.
This collaboration between Rotary's Climate Action Team Network (RCAT) and SFSU Climate HQ brings together community leaders and students working toward environmental justice and climate solutions. Lunch will be provided after the workday — this is a great opportunity for Rotarians to connect with SFSU students and share ideas across generations!
Come grow the plants that protect our communities and parks!
