Dr. Alison Simon, AICP, Senior Director of Amtrak responsible for implementing the vision of rail transport for California, will share and connect the dots between transportation and sustainability.
Dr. Simon has worked in the transportation industry for over 30 years, the last 10 of which have been with Amtrak. She worked first in the Northeast Corridor and eventually transferred and then retired from running trains for the State of California. She also served as a planning advisor to Amtrak senior management over the years, culminating in an industry award for implementing sustainability programs. Dr. Simon holds a master's and a Ph.D. in Urban Planning. When all of these credentials collide, she reveals her big picture thinking that emerges on how Amtrak could and should be contributing to the climate change solution.
