Happy Ramadan imageJoin us for an evening of cultural exchange, tradition, and Turkish hospitality as we come together for our second annual iftar dinner on Tuesday, March 25, at Troya Mediterranean Kitchen.

Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam, observed by millions of people worldwide, including in Türkiye, where it holds a special place in the hearts of many. It is a time of fasting, self-reflection, and community, where Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset, focusing on spiritual growth, gratitude, and acts of charity. The day-long fast is broken each evening at iftar, a meal shared with family, friends, and neighbors — an experience that embodies the spirit of unity and generosity.

A Special Turkish Iftar Experience
This year’s iftar will showcase a traditional Turkish-style Ramadan dinner, highlighting the flavors and customs of Türkiye’s rich culinary and cultural heritage. In Türkiye, Ramadan is more than just fasting; it is a time when communities come together to share meals, mosques stay open late for prayers, and the streets come alive with a festive atmosphere. From the pre-dawn drumming of the Ramazan Davulcusu (Ramadan drummer) to long, joyful dinners filled with conversation and laughter, Ramadan in Türkiye is a deeply social and cherished time.

At our iftar, we will start the evening at 7:00 PM, sharing insights into the significance of Ramadan and its traditions. Once the sun sets at 7:30 PM, we will break the fast together with a carefully prepared selection of Turkish dishes, just as they would be enjoyed in homes across Türkiye.

What to Expect

  • A variety of traditional Turkish dishes, reflecting the flavors of a true Ramadan feast.
  • One soft drink included, with Turkish tea served after dinner.
  • No alcohol will be served in accordance with Ramadan customs.
