Patricia Frost explains how disruptions to community lifelines — like power, communications, and transportation — can leave individuals and businesses isolated in the first hours or days after a disaster. She will address how the needs of children in emergency planning is critical for workforce stability and community resilience. Through real-life examples addressing earthquakes and wildfires, her presentation will provide practical actions everyone can take.
Patricia Frost, RN, PHN, MS, PNP, is Vice Chair of the National Pediatric Disaster Coalition. She is a Subject Matter Expert in Pediatric Disaster Emergency Operations and Management. Patricia has decades of experience as a pediatric clinician and educator in pediatric academic hospital settings. As a former EMS director for Contra Costa County Emergency Medical Services in California, she held responsibilities for county-wide disaster medical health response and mutual aid for a community of 1.1 million and has been involved in numerous real-world disaster operations. Currently, Patricia is an adjunct faculty for Harvard Beth Israel Disaster Medicine Fellowship and TEEX National Pediatric Disaster Response and Preparedness Program.
