Past District Governor Russ Ketron and PolioPlus Co-Chair Hugh Murphy, both from District 5150, join us to talk about Rotary's effort and progress to end polio.
PDG Russ Ketron: A recipient of Rotary's Service Award for a Polio Free World for the Americas, PDG Russ Ketron is Past President of the Rotary Club of Novato. He served as District Governor in the 2008-2009 Rotary Year and has completed his term as our District Polio Co-Chair.
Russ is a practicing Certified Financial Planner and a Registered Investment Adviser Representative with Western International Securities. He is the managing member of Ketron Financial, LLC, which has been located in Novato for the last 40+ years.
Russ and his wife, Kathy, are members of the Arch Klumph Society and the Bequest Society as well as Major Donors. They are also White Hat Society and PolioPlus Society members. As contributors to our Rotary Foundation, they certainly “walk the talk”.
Russ has a particular interest in this issue: He is a Polio survivor.
PolioPlus Co-Chair Hugh Murphy: Hugh Murphy has been a proud member of the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor since he first joined Rotary in 2012. He has served as Club Secretary, Club President, and Club TRF Chair. He is currently President of the Club Foundation.
Hugh has served at the District level as Assistant Foundation Chair in 2017-2020, Assistant District Governor in 2022-2024, and is currently PolioPlus Co-Chair.
Hugh has been a licensed and practicing Architect since 1987. In 1998 he partnered with his late wife and a third partner to form VMI architecture. The firm has been practicing architecture since 1998 with Hugh becoming the majority partner and president in 2012.
In addition to Rotary, Hugh sits on the Board of Sanzuma, a local non-profit that has been providing farm-to-school fresh organic produce with emphasis on training programs to increase awareness for fair and equitable food distribution systems.
