ROTARY LUNCHEON: Shirmila Cooray and De Marillac Academy

Shirmila Cooray will share the mission of De Marillac Academy. De Marillac is an all-scholarship, 4th through 8th grade, Lasallian Vincentian Catholic academy located in the Tenderloin that provides educational, personal, and financial support to its students and families during their years at De Marillac, through high school, and into early adulthood.

Shirmila is the Director of Development at De Marillac. She joined De Marillac in 2020 from the Center for Youth Wellness where she collaborated with Founder and California's first Surgeon General, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, as the lead frontline fundraiser. Prior to her work at the Center for Youth Wellness, she held various fundraising positions at UNICEF USA, The Asia Foundation, the National Democratic Institute, the Brookings Institution, and the U.S. Campaign for Burma. Shirmila holds a bachelor's degree from Colby College and a master's degree in nonprofit management from the University of San Francisco. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, she now lives in Bayview Hunters Point with her husband and two daughters.

For in-person attendees: The cost for in-person registration (including children) is $45 if you register early until 11:59 AM on Friday, January 12, 2024. When the clock strikes noon on Friday, January 12, 2024, the price will go up to $60. If you show up at the door on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 as a walk-in, you will be charged $60. Please note that once Past President Mary Liu provides the headcount to the Hotel Nikko on the Friday before our Tuesday meeting, we will be billed for that count regardless of whether you show or not. 

For attendance via Zoom: For those who wish to participate via Zoom, there is a $10 fee to attend.

Parking: If you are driving to the Hotel Nikko for this meeting, please leave your car with the Hotel Nikko valet. Pick up a validation sticker available at our check-in table. The discounted parking is $17.50 for three hours.
