ROTARY LUNCHEON: Vern Glenn and Sports in the Bay Area

Vern Glenn will discuss sports in the Bay Area. He joined KPIX 5/KBCWTV 44 Cable 12 in June 2012 as weekend Sports Anchor/weekday sports reporter and multimedia journalist. A four-time Emmy® Award winner for Best Sportscaster, Vern had previously been at KRON 4 News since 1990.

At KRON, Vern was tagged with the nickname “Mr. Involvement” for literally throwing himself in the middle of his feature stories. His memorable stories include bungee jumping, skydiving, bull riding, boxing, pro football, and a dirt bike crash. Among his personal assignments was reporting from the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

Vern was part of the KNBR Radio Morning show in 1998 and drops in now and then as a guest on 95.7 FM The Game. He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of the University of Virginia.

For Club members and visitors, there is a $45 charge for in-person attendance (which covers the cost of your lunch). NOTE: For those who wish to participate via Zoom, there is a $10 fee to attend.

For in-person attendees: The cost for in-person registration will remain $45 if you register early until 11:59 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023. When the clock strikes noon on Friday, April 14, 2023, the price will go up to $60. If you show up at the door on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 as a walk-in, you will be charged $60. Please note that once Past President Mary Liu provides the headcount to the Hotel Nikko on the Friday before our Tuesday meeting, we will be billed for that count regardless of whether you show or not. 

Parking: If you are driving to the Hotel Nikko for this meeting, please leave your car with the Hotel Nikko valet. Pick up a validation sticker available at our check-in table. The discounted parking is $17.50 for three hours.
