The Anti-Human Trafficking Committee has begun its work for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, meeting for the first time on August 7.
Our first discussion centered on a key question: How can the Rotary Club of San Francisco better understand human trafficking and identify meaningful ways to help address it locally?
We started with education, reviewing the United Nations definition of human trafficking and discussing the issues in San Francisco, as well as the work of the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery. Over the coming months, we will continue learning, identifying local partners, and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
We are also planning programming for National Human Trafficking Awareness Month in January, including a potential Club program on January 12, 2027, featuring a speaker focused on local efforts and impact.
Our goal is to move from education to action through a meaningful service project and other opportunities for member engagement.
We’re Still Recruiting
We are actively recruiting new committee members! No prior experience is required, just an interest in learning, building community partnerships, and helping the Club identify meaningful ways to contribute to the effort to end human trafficking.
If you are interested, know a potential partner or speaker, or simply want to learn more, we would welcome your participation. The Committee meets the first Friday of each month from 8:30 a.m.–9:15 a.m. Pacific Time.
