Past Club President and current Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Tim Hornbecker (Nonprofit Management | Retired, The Arc CA) called the meeting to order and welcomed all on Zoom and in person to the September 1, 2026 luncheon.

Grant Presentation to the Alzheimer's Association
Past President Tim Hornbecker presented an IOU to Drue Banta of the Alzheimer's Association, but all joking aside, San Francisco Rotary Foundation Treasurer Emily Borland (Engineering, Architecture, and Construction | Emily Borland Specifications) assured us that a check in the amount of $3,000 was mailed, received, and already deposited. Joining the presentation via Zoom was Past President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group, Inc.).

Guest Speaker
Ruth Wenzel (Registered Nurse | Retired) introduced today's speaker — Dixie James. Dixie is a retired Special Education teacher who shared her journey and challenges in raising her daughter, Holly, from birth to adulthood and from dependence to being able to live independently. Holly was born with Down syndrome and heart disease and lived to the age of 50. Holly and Dixie wrote and published a book together about Holly. One incredible accomplishment was that Holly was able to live in her own apartment for 10 years supported by Lifehouse
Past President Tim thanked Dixie James and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in her name.

Allan Herzog (Financial Services: Advising | Wells Fargo Advisors) donated $2,500 to Lifehouse and asked others to join him in supporting Lifehouse. The generous donors were:
