We reach the month of October, and our Club Calendar is filled with Committee meetings. In addition to the regular monthly Committee meetings, there are two new ones in October 2023: the 2023 Holiday Party Committee meeting on October 9, 2023 and the Rotary Climate Action Team's meeting on October 12, 2023. Please join one or both of these two meetings or any of the other Committee meetings shown on the Club calendar.

 

We also offer special events in October: the Blue Angels Viewing Party on October 7, 2023 and the Glitz and Glamour Luncheon and Fashion Show on October 17, 2023. Rotary District 5150 offers a scavenger hunt on October 21, 2023 to commemorate World Polio Day; wear a costume to add to the fun.

 

With so much to do, we hope to see you soon at our Club's events.

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein. Senator Feinstein was a member of our Club from May 1, 1989 until her death on September 28, 2023. On July 1, 2023, our Club made Senator Feinstein an honorary member.

Senator Feinstein was a native of San Francisco and served for nine years as a San Francisco County Supervisor starting in 1969. The assassination of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk in 1978 forever changed her life. She went on to become San Francisco's Mayor and ultimately, California's first woman U.S. Senator. She dedicated the rest of her life to public service and to finding solutions to problems facing California and the rest of the nation. You can read more about Senator Feinstein's accomplishments in her biography. 

 

Congratulations to Christian Kuhn who has married Megumi Faibisch. The wedding took place at Wright's Lake among family members. Christian, his brother Tucker, and his mother Heidi are with Roots of Peace and members of our Club.

 

 

This presentation covers the definition of Alzheimer's disease and dementia, Healthy Brain Habits, resources for families living with Alzheimer's disease, recent breakthroughs in treatments, and how Rotary members can engage in the fight to End Alzheimer's.

The Arc San Francisco seeks Rotarians to help participants at The Arc SF prepare "pitch" presentations on what they have learned from their new entrepreneurship program. You may assist as either a mentor or a panelist or both. Hours are flexible.

You are invited to our Second Annual Rotary Fashion Show - Glitz & Glamour! The Fashion Show is open to all. In addition to the glamour, there will be fun, fine food, and plenty of fellowship. There will also be door prizes. This is an afternoon that you will not want to miss! Please note that this event is in person only and begins at 11 AM.

 

Join Rotarians from Rotary International District 5150 on this part-scavenger hunt, part-treasure hunt to commemorate World Polio Day.  The event will conclude with prizes, food, and fellowship at the Cannery in Fisherman’s Wharf. Adventurers of all ages are welcome! Costumes are encouraged (including costume contest prizes).

 

Join the members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco, their families, and their friends for the Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Preregistration for the Walk is required. After the Walk, there is an optional dim sum lunch.
