A Warm Welcome to the Club
On January 30, 2024, the Membership Committee hosted the First Quarter’s “Welcome to the Club Party.” Margaret Miley, Vice President of Membership, orchestrated a successful event with about 35 attendees, including new members since July 2023 and 10 prospective members exploring our Club's values and opportunities and meeting some of the Club’s leadership.
 
The evening featured light appetizers and wine, fostering networking and connections in the charming office of Lynn Luckow. A small group exercise added a creative touch, encouraging participants to discuss past and desired projects. The ideas generated were both innovative and stimulating.

LUNCHEON MEETING HIGHLIGHTS February 6, 2024: John Rothmann and Politics in 2024
President-Elect Nominee Frank Yoke (Development | Frank Yoke Consulting) called today's meeting to order and welcomed those online and those attending in person at the Anzu Restaurant in the Hotel Nikko.
 
District 5150 Rotarian of the Month
Congratulations to Dora Dye (Education | San Francisco and San Mateo Counties) for her recognition as the Rotary District 5150 Rotarian of the Month in January 2024. She was recognized today in our Club as there were limited meetings in January.
 
Visiting Rotarians and Guests
Today's Visiting Rotarians were PDG Leif Carlzon from the Rotary Club of Ludvika RC in Sweden, Frank Schulenberg from the Rotary Club of Chico, Lisa De Zordo from the Rotary Club of San Francisco Castro, and our own Past President Casey Blair, now a member of the Rotary Club of Boise. Other guests were Milo Hanke, Brittany Olson, and Pradeep Karumanchi. John Rothmann joined us today as our speaker.

Super Bowl Viewing Party and Squares: February 11, 2024
Join your fellow Rotarians, guests, and prospective members on Super Bowl Sunday for fun and fellowship as we watch the game together and enjoy great food. This is a family-friendly event. Winners of the Club Super Bowl Squares will be celebrated at the end of each quarter.

LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION February 20, 2024: Year of the Dragon
Embark on a journey of joy and prosperity as we welcome the Year of the Dragon. Get ready for an evening filled with cultural wonders, vibrant festivities, and indulge in a ten-course feast of auspicious dishes, symbolizing good fortune and abundance. All Rotarians, their families, and their friends are invited and welcome.
 
 
SOCIAL EVENT February 23, 2024: Dandelion Chocolate Factory Tour and Tasting
Join us on a one-hour tour of the Dandelion Chocolate Factory where our guide will delve into the history and process of making chocolate, all while providing us with tastings along the way. Afterwards, we'll have some time to catch up and mingle in their café over pastries and beverages. This event is open to all Rotarians and their families and guests. Attendance is capped at 20 people, so register early! 
 
SERVICE PROJECT February 27, 2024: Diaper Bag Assembly for Homeless Prenatal Program
Join us at this service opportunity to stuff diaper bags and organize diapers and wipes for giveaway to clients of the Homeless Prenatal Program.  Event is limited to 12 people.
 
Baby Showers for Homeless Prenatal Program: March 6, 2024
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1 PM. Registration is limited to two Rotarians at each shower. 
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT March 9, 2024: Rotary Meadow Restoration
Come and enjoy nature, fresh air, and fellowship as we do some gardening to improve and enhance Rotary Meadow - a garden of native plants our Club planted at the summit of Mount Sutro in 2004. Participation is limited to a maximum of 20 people. Advanced registration is required. 
 
SOCIAL EVENT March 10, 2024: Under the Big Top with Cirque du Soleil
Come and enjoy Cirque du Soleil's latest show, KOOZA! An hour before the circus, we will gather to enjoy a drink and some fellowship. This event is open to all Rotarians and their families and guests. Attendance is capped at 20 people, so register early! 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON March 12, 2024: Jennifer Bernstein and Guide Dogs for the Blind
Prepare to be moved as you learn about the Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB). Jennifer Bernstein, Certified Valuation Analyst, of GDB will provide a historical perspective on GDB and discuss the intensive training regimen guide dogs go through in preparing them for a lifetime of service to their owners. She will also speak to the challenges experienced during COVID and how GDB is doing today and its future. 
 
 
 
SERVICE PROJECT March 14, 2024: Catholic Charities - St. Joseph's Family Center Garden Project
Join us to help beautify the garden at St. Joseph’s Family Center. Volunteers will be weeding, planting, installing a bench, and using their creativity to make the garden a more beautiful place for the families at the Center.
