The Rotary Club of San Francisco Board of Directors met on July 25, 2023 via Zoom. President Sunny Singh called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. Nancy Graydon, Secretary, recorded the minutes.
In attendance were President Sunny Singh, President-Elect Bob Hermann, Emily Borland, Nancy Graydon, Margaret Miley, Alex Omoko, Maureen O’Shea, Scott Plakun, Bill Poppen, Todd St Vrain, Ozan Yasavur, and Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Dan Davies was absent. Also in attendance were Immediate Past President Christopher Wiseman, Executive Secretary Dora Dye, and Past President Mary Liu.

With camaraderie and community, the Rotary Club of San Francisco resumed its beloved tradition of hosting Welcome-to-the-Club parties. These gatherings, which had been a cherished fixture on a quarterly basis before the challenges brought about by COVID-19, have made a triumphant return to the Club’s calendar. The first of these parties was recently held on the evening of August 24, 2023.
Margaret Miley, with her signature warmth and hospitality, graciously hosted the event while the dedicated efforts of Dan Joraanstad and Margaret herself were instrumental in organizing an evening that proved to be nothing short of a smashing success. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as Club leadership, both established and emerging, gathered to celebrate this auspicious occasion. The event was graced by a crowd of 35 new and prospective members as well as Club leaders, each contributing to the vibrant tapestry of our ever-growing Rotary family.
In honor of the Labor Day holiday weekend, there is no Rotary Luncheon on September 5, 2023. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Join us at one or both of the Baby Showers at the Homeless Prenatal Program where we will give expectant mothers diaper bags filled with supplies. The party for Spanish speakers starts at 10 AM; the party for English speakers starts at 1 PM. Registration is limited to two Rotarians at each shower.
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office's mission is to broaden Hong Kong's economic relations with the 19 western states, by enhancing free trade policy and its two-way platform for overseas companies to access the China market and for Chinese companies to go global. Director Jacko Tsang will join us to present an overview of Hong Kong's advantages and latest initiatives in selected areas.

Our Club’s DEI Committee is pleased to present the screening of Loving. This film is rated PG and based on the true story of a couple whose arrest in Virginia began a legal battle that led to the U.S. Supreme Court's historic 1967 decision legalizing interracial marriage. This event is open to members, prospective members, their friends, and family.
Rodney A. Fong, President and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, will provide a San Francisco Business Update and discuss downtown revitalization.
Come and join a Thanksgiving for the life of 2017-2018 Past President John Mathers. Flowers are welcome as well as a donation to the Rotary Club of San Francisco's Rotary Climate Action Team (RCAT) program. John had dedicated the last few years of his life to spearhead RCAT to raise awareness of the dangerous effects of climate change.
