President Sunny Singh (Financial Services: Advising | PK Wealth Management) called today's meeting to order at 12:15 PM and welcomed those online and those attending in person at the Anzu Restaurant in the Hotel Nikko.
 
Visiting Rotarians and Guests
Today's Visiting Rotarians were Elie Abijaouda from the Rotary Club of San Jose and Randall Scott from the Rotary Club of Fisherman's Wharf. Randall was also today's speaker. Our guest today was Mayra Rivas from the Aquarium of the Bay Ecotarium.
 
Rotary Flag Exchange
President-Elect Nominee Frank Yoke (Development | Frank Yoke Consulting) attended a meeting of the Rotary Club of Niles (Fremont) and exchanged our Club's Rotary flag for theirs.
 
Completion of Red Badge
La Carre Ivy (Retired) and Paul Vazquez (Nonprofit Administration | Alliance for Smiles) completed their red badge requirements and are now full members of our Club. La Carre has joined our Membership Committee while Paul is active in our Community Services Committee. Congratulations to La Carre and Paul!

Results of Membership Survey
President-Elect Bob Hermann (Information Technology: Administration | Retired UCSF) shared the results of the recent Membership Survey. 67 members responded. Many indicated that they enjoyed learning about our Club via Grindings and our website. Many also stated that they liked what we are doing to advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in our Club. The majority said that our Club was holding enough monthly meetings. As promised, if over 50% of the Club completed this survey, there would be a drawing for a gift card. We did get over 50% of the Club to respond, and the winner of the gift card was Margaret Miley (Hospitality: Hotels | Retired).
 
Mary LiuRotarian of the Month
President Sunny announced that Past President Mary Liu (Real Estate: Sales | JM Real Estate Group) was the Rotarian of the Month for March 2024. Mary is involved in almost every aspect of keeping our Club up and running. Thank you and congratulations to Mary!

President Sunny shared our group photo at the recent District Assembly. See full story here. The group photo was taken by today's speaker - Randall Scott. President Sunny talked about the presentation at the District Assembly by Scott Plakun (Management Consulting | The Plakun Group) and Ozan Yasavur (Engineering: Mechanical | Bioforcetech Corporation) for the breakout session on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
 
President Sunny thanked Ozan Yasavur for leading the dinner to break the fast at Ramadan.
 
President Sunny also thanked the Rotarians who attended the SF Giants vs. Oakland A's game on March 26.

If you have not already registered, you may register here Mary shared the cool bowling trophies made by Margaret Miley. There are also sponsorship opportunities for those wishing to showcase a project or service opportunity. Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles) talked about the value of participating in the House of Friendship.

Randall ScottGuest Speaker
PE Bob Hermann introduced today’s speaker - Randall Scott. Randall is the Executive Director of the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (CBD) and the President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Fisherman’s Wharf. He explained what CBDs are and how they serve San Francisco. Randall also shared statistics regarding the increased number of cameras in San Francisco to curb crime and weighed the balance between public safety and privacy. President Sunny thanked Randall Scott and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in his name.
 
The meeting concluded at 1:30 PM.
