We just held the third of our new series of Thursday evening meetings, and they continue to be a success! Starting around 6 PM on September 19, members and guests gathered at MoMo’s across from the Giants Stadium. MoMo’s offered a curtained-off section, providing a perfect setting for our group. The space was both roomy and visually appealing with views of the street and the ballpark.
The restaurant was equipped with a video display, ideal for our meeting slides. While we forgot the “dongle” needed for connectivity, the attentive staff saved the day by streaming the slides from an Apple iPhone to a Windows screen without a hitch — just another example of their excellent service.
A reminder for Thursdays: you only pay for what you order in terms of food and drink. The menu is delicious! I’ve enjoyed MoMo’s seafood salad and Cobb salad in the past, and this week, the fish tacos were a home run for me. The evening began casually, with members trickling in to enjoy happy hour and catch up. It was a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, the following Rotarians and friends gathered for a potluck and a game of Rotary Jeopardy. Tonight's contestants were the following teams: Paul Harris' Heroes (consisting of Walt Gladwin and Shari Teresi from the Rotary Club of Millbrae and David Dye and Mary Liu from the Rotary Club of San Francisco); Arch Klumph's Kingpins (consisting of Dora Dye and Dan Joraanstad from the Rotary Club of San Francisco, Anna Yang from the Rotary Club of San Francisco West, and our guest, Henry Rubin); and Steve Wright's Wizards (consisting of Lisa Stark from the Rotary Club of San Francisco, Deirdri Gladwin and Frank Seebode from the Rotary Club of Millbrae, and our guest, Ami Seebode). Our Jeopardy host was Joe Teresi (aka Guy Smiley) from the Rotary Club of Millbrae.
Like the game that we watch on television, there were three rounds: Jeopardy!, Double Jeopardy!, and Final Jeopardy! The tension was high among the three teams.
Congratulations to Club Members Caitlyn Eller and Yana Sharma for securing a $1,000 grant from Rotary District 5150 for an exciting environmental project. The project will be in collaboration with the Rotary Club of San Francisco Castro who also secured a $1,000 grant from Rotary District 5150. This hands-on, educational event will explore the vital role of insects in our ecosystem. Participants will build and paint insect houses, taste bee-produced foods, and hear from 2-4 guest speakers on topics like bees, insects, and their impact on local and international communities. All including youth are encouraged to participate. Stay tuned for more details.
