Embarking on a Journey Through Time: Rotary Club of San Francisco's Clean-up Initiative
Dear Members,
 
I am delighted to share some exciting news regarding our recent efforts at the Rotary Club of San Francisco. We have undertaken a significant task: sorting through decades of historical documents, financial records, and cherished mementos. This endeavor is more than just tidying up; it's an exploration of our Club's fascinating journey since its establishment in 1908.
 
Our discussions have been thorough and thoughtful, involving input from esteemed past presidents JT Forbus, Mary Liu, and Christopher Wiseman, as well as our current President Sunny Singh, President-Elect Bob Hermann, and President-Elect Nominee Frank Yoke. Together, we've carefully considered what to preserve and what to part with as we move forward.

District 5150's Day of Service: Protecting the Environment
In a remarkable display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, multiple Rotary Clubs in San Francisco, in collaboration with Sutro Stewards' Trail Builders, spearheaded a transformative day of service on April 20 at Rotary Meadow atop Sutro Forest. Stephanie Schmautz led the event as she has done in the past three years.

Fifty dedicated individuals rolled up their sleeves to weed, build trails, and enhance the park for future visitors. The idea for Rotary Meadow traces back to Harold Hoogasian, Past President of the Rotary Club San Francisco (2001-2002), who envisioned a space where Rotary's mission of fostering peace through good work could tangibly take root. And he built on a site that was commandeered by the US Military.

SERVICE PROJECT May 11, 2024:  Volunteering at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank
Join us to build grocery boxes for seniors, sort donations, and other various tasks as needed. The Food Bank continues to need your helping hands. Register by May 5, 2024. Registration has now closed.
 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON May 14, 2024: Jerusalem Peacebuilders
Rev. Canon PorterDr. Elias FarahLearn about Jerusalem Peacebuilders and the EXCEL teachers' program, a new grant partner for the Rotary Club of San Francisco. Today's speakers (Rev. Canon Porter and Dr. Elias Farah) will also touch upon the current conflict in Israel.
 
 
 
DEI EVENT May 19, 2024: Rotary DEI Film Festival Presents Before Stonewall
As an early kickoff to San Francisco Pride, our May DEI Film Festival movie is Before Stonewall, a documentary about the early history of the Gay and Lesbian community before the Stonewall riots began the major gay rights movement. This film has not been rated. This event is open to Rotarians, their friends, and family. 
 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON May 21, 2024: Kim Turner and Title IX in Sports
Kim Turner, Co-CEO of the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative and a Title IX attorney will speak about Title IX in sports and its future, especially in the Bay Area. 
 
 
 
ROTARY LUNCHEON June 4, 2024: D'Arcy Drollinger
In honor of Pride Month, the Rotary Club of San Francisco proudly welcomes San Francisco’s first ever Drag Laureate — D’Arcy Drollinger! Come to learn about this position, which the City says is the first in the U.S., to bring visibility to the LGBTQ community and to work with City agencies to address LGBTQ people’s needs.
