On a beautiful November morning, forty volunteers gathered at the Baylands duck pond for a collaborative restoration project that brought together the Rotary Club of San Francisco, the Rotary Club of Menlo Park, the SFSU Climate HQ, Bank of America, and Save the Bay. The day began with bagels and conversation as participants — including a van full of SFSU students — arrived ready to work.
Representing the Rotary Club of San Francisco were Bob Hermann, Todd St Vrain, and Kai Burrus, who coordinated the student participation. Our task for the day was to plant approximately 1,000 native plants of four different species around a parking lot adjacent to the Bay. As we worked, we learned about the role these plants play in protecting against shoreline erosion and promoting biodiversity — increasingly important as sea levels rise.
President Frank Yoke called the meeting via Zoom to order at 4:04 p.m. on October 28, 2025. Secretary Dora Dye recorded the minutes.
In attendance were Gary Dales, Ann Daugherty, Dora Dye, Stephen Geisheker, Bob Hermann, Tim Hornbecker, Margaret Miley, Maureen O’Shea, Hana Xu Wang, Darlene Wilson, Ozan Yasavur, and President Frank Yoke, constituting a quorum. Absent were Stellie Kim and Wendy Shew. Our guest was Sunny Singh.
Approval of September 2025 and Special October 2025 Board Minutes
The Board approved the September 23, 2025 meeting minutes with one Board member abstaining.
The Board reviewed and accepted the minutes for the Special Board Meeting to meet with District Governor Mitone Griffiths on October 7, 2025.
Thank you to Rotarian Stacey Poole for organizing and inviting our Club to the Olympic Club for Trivia Night. Our group's name was the Jeopardy Rejects and consisted of the following Rotarians: David Dye, Dora Dye, Stacey Poole, Kayla Trunecek, and President Frank Yoke. We also had a guest — Nicholas Meza.
Together we competed with nine other groups to answer six rounds of trivia questions and proved that we were contenders and not rejects. The questions covered geography, history, music, Thanksgiving, films, and books. The evening included food and beverage. In the end after much debate over the correct answers and laughter, our group placed fifth in the competition.
